NY trip~

I was pretty po’ed the first day. I left like 5:30am for a 6:30 flight which of course got cancelled after we sat on the plane for two hours. This of course meant I missed my connecting flight in Cincinnati. Then they rebooked us for another flight an hour or so later. And of course, it was my connecting flight (Atlanta) that was delayed because of some thunderstorm in N. Carolina. Needless to say it was miserable. Initially, I was so happy when I made the morning flight because I had 3 seats to myself. I knew it was too good to be true. Because of that cancellation, I had to sit with other people
By the time I got into Manhattan it was 9:30pm (can you believe it?) Next time I go to NY I’m doing nonstop – frequent flier is not worth it for all the hassle it caused me. Al got to do nonstop because of work *sniffs*.
Anyway, Al, Bonnie and Tommy waited for me while I took the Supershuttle in from Newark. I told the driver to drop me off at Times Square. Man NY is sooooooooooo humid. Ugh horrible. We ate at Del Frisco’s. I had the filet mignon which I normally don’t like but it was good. Yummy spinach and bread too. We also shared shrimp remoulade and crab cakes with cajun lobster sauce. Al got a free 7 layer lemon cake for his birthday – was huge. I got some sort of cheesecake – forgot exactly. But it was cool to drop in around 10pm for dinner and so many people around eating dinner. I love that the city was so awake. Hate the weather though.
Our hotel was awesome though. This was the best hotel I’ve ever been to. So my style. Simple, modern and clean – Le Parker Meridien. Loved it. Normally the room goes for $300/nite but because the U.N. delegates were in town, the prices jumped to over $700
Luckily we booked before then because my friend later told me that it was impossible to get a hotel room anywhere.
I saw DH for lunch after I walked around shopping. I even took a picture of the place I used to live on 58th Street (Central Park Mews). I met him down in the Wall street area by the bull. I got my requisite Starbuck’s mocha frap and he got lunch at Chipotle. Guess that chain is big there because Bonnie mentioned it to me too. She claims we have it in OC but I seriously don’t remember it at all. It was kind of fun riding the subway. He swiped me in with his unlimited so that I wouldn’t have to pay again. Then we met up with Will and Linda at Turkish Kitchen. Man doesn’t it seem like all I do is eat? I forgot what I had exactly what I ate but I remember it having yogurt in it. I always pick the dishes with yogurt – so yummy. I’ll have to peek menu later on to figure out what I ate.
Then we went to Union Square to walk around where we used to live Zeckendorf Towers. We said hi to the doormen and they all remembered us. How cute. Then we walked over to Forbidden Planet to buy battlescar gundams but of course they didn’t have it >.> I did buy that shoujo magazine though – the one with Nana in it to check it out and I bought Hanakimi vols 3 and 4 since I couldn’t remember if I had bought vol 2 and I bought Karekano vol 17 (all in english). They had a deal 3 for $24.99
I couldn’t pass it up. Too bad I ordered vol 16 at amazon which they still haven’t sent me >.< We bought some yugioh also for B. Anyway I will continue the recap next time. I have to go meet some gfs for coffee now.
