Pot luck…

So we had a potluck at Monica’s. It was kind of funny because I think half of us ended up just buying something. I bought this chicken mango curry salad (which everyone liked), Angela brought deviled eggs and I think the shrimp cocktail platter, Kathy brought taquitoes, Paul brought over shrimp with almonds that Isabel made, Monica made some kind of spicy beef kebob, Ruth actually made these soft vegetarian spring rolls. No one brought dessert because we thought someone else was going to bring it :/ We played trivial pursuit genus 5. Girls against the guys. I thought for sure we wouldn’t be able to advance in that game because it was going to be really hard but surprisingly we were. I guess with the team being 5 girls and 6 guys, one of us was bound to know something lol. The girls were leading for most of the game. We would have won but we couldn’t get this one question about which president built a picnic area over a horsehoe area. We guessed Reagan but it was Clinton and that was the turning point. The guys got on a roll with all these easy sports and leisure questions and they eventually won
This game was a lot easier than the original edition which I’m used to. I’ve concluded it’s because the original edition has a lot more questions based in the early 1900s and stuff – we know squat about people during those times. This genus 5 version has the old stuff based in the 50′s on so we had much more of a fighting chance guessing.
I went on a girl’s night out also. We went to happy hour at Claim Jumper. I tried out a butterfinger martini – it had godiva choco in it. Was yummy. Then we went to Monica’s to watch a movie. We rented “Stepford Wives” because we all saw the rest of the movies that were on new releases. How sad. I think this is why I don’t have a blockbuster card. It’s too lame.
The guys had poker night. They played Texas Hold’em again. Al said he won one round. And Jason’s friend won one round. I forget who won the last round.
Al went camping to San Mateo this weekend so I bummed around and finally finished the jdramas H2 and Taiyou no Kisetsu.
