Decluttering

Spent the weekend decluttering – man I’m such a pack rat. I’ve finally made inroads though. I finally have acknowledged that I will never watch all those anime cds that I’ve burned over the course of the last 10? years and that my kids won’t watch them either because they can probably get higher quality files (anyone remember rms?). I threw away all my anime burned cds (I threw the vhs ones away long ago – remember the times when you could buy fansubbed tapes of anime?). I kept the ones we bought though obviously because I really liked them, even Fushigi Yuugi. But seriously, I had boxes and boxes of burned anime cds. It was time. Tons of anime I’ve never even heard of/recalled but some that kind of made me hesitate but I gave in and threw away anyway, even Yami no Matsuei.
I couldn’t throw away the film reels of the short I made while I was in film school though. I threw it in the garbage then I went back later and fished it out
I’m a loser. I did manage to throw away all the accompanying notes and paperwork associated with it though so it wasn’t totally a loss.
On a happier note, I managed to find my wedding video
It has been missing in action for the last 3+ years. Had no idea where it went ever since we’ve moved to California. I wanted to transfer it to a digital format. We opened a comic book trunk (obviously haven’t opened it in ages) and lo and behold – several videos: wedding video, video of us skydiving and some unidentified NYU short we made amongst our full collection of Sandman comics which we weren’t able to chuck. We did chuck all the other comics including Elfquest. Man are we pack rats. Needless to say we aren’t nearly finished but hey throwing out all those cds was hard enough so I’m proud of myself. All those hours wasted downloading… ugh I could cringe.

good dear, it’s already 3 years since you moved to cali? time flies *_*
I guess it’s reasonable to throw away those cds…most of them are probably broken by now. I have a lot of my old cds back at home, where they don’t bother anyone. But i still have like 3000 cds/dvds lying around here and i know, i should get rid of a lot of them. i downloaded so much crap @_@

Haha, good for you fellow packrat. XD You get the dvds of the series you really like, so not too much a biggie. And anime licenses aren’t as rare as they used to be. I think the only show that’d be a problem is One Piece… unless you don’t mind the kiddy cuts and awful dubbing.
Other than a few series like FMA, the only time my CDs/DVD-Rs find any use is when I lend or show a series to friends or my brother.
Yay, you finally found your wedding video. XD

Oh, hey… what about your j/k/twdrama cds? XD

Haha it must be a scorpio thing.
God all those hours I wasted on dialup downloading crap like Evangelion in VIVO format and Slayers in RMs and dont forge the kodocha…althogh I’ve been rewatching Kodocha lately with my boyfriend…
but Yea eventually when I move again..I plan to basically just chuck most of my anime and maybe keep a few good ones (like obviously trouble chocolate, Rave and Suzumiya Haruhi maybe a few others.)
I got soo many stupid CDs of jdrama’s ill probably never watch again and stupid performances/concerts that i couldn’t give a crap about anymore. Packratting is a terrible habit.

lol all the time I spent downloading anime and the money spent on purchasing CD’s are just a thing of the past. I haven’t even touched any of the anime CD’s that I burned before. It’s crazy the amount of CD’s we have haha, I’ll probably end up throwing them away just like you did =P

I hear ya!!! Boy do I hear ya… Throw them out – unless you really think you will ever go back and watch them.

Ya I’m happy about the wedding video even though it’s greatly degraded but it’s something. And ya, you got me – I couldn’t throw away the drama cds. Some part of me thinks I’ll go back and watch them *cough*.

You definitely should or at the very least, pick and choose.
