Epiphanies

We played Wii Play again then we hopped over to Costco. I think the trick is to stick to your list which of course I didn’t. I bought these cute melanine mixing bowls. I want to do more baking with the kids so it should be fun. I also found the cooler that I adore for the price I wanted which I’ve been absolutely devastated about losing (Sammy chewed ours up). Of course it’s not exactly the same as the link which is the one we originally had but it’s pretty much the same. Anyway, it was less than $30 like the original one I bought. After Sammy chewed ours up, I couldn’t even find it for less than $60. I guess it’s all about the season. Love Costco!! I’ve searched for it for ages online, in costco, in target. Good things come to those who wait

It was also game night last night. We played Dinopoly. What a long game it is. I had to speed things up (I was losing anyway) so I traded my cards cheaply so that the others could start collecting bones (aka houses) on their monopolies. Somehow I ended up with Dh’s 2 eras (aka utilities) and then after that C gave me his 2 so I had a monopoly of eras (love my son ). Guess he loves dinos more than those eras heh heh. He was really attached to some dino and wouldn’t give it up no matter what. Not even when we told him he would go bankrupt. He would rather give up his monopoly of other dinos if he could keep that particular dino. So I gave him the dinos that went with that particular dino he liked for the more valuable monopoly he had. I wonder why he liked that one so much. Anyway, long story short, even though I was way way way behind (and I really mean way behind – I had one lame dino and was losing money left and right), somehow I ended up winning. Just goes to show you, when you’re not so anxious about winning and you try to help people, it sometimes just comes to you. I think the kids had fun although C was bummed about losing the dinos that he had acquired for the next time we play. He’s cute.

I watched Brothers and Sisters today. I really like that show. And it just happened to be about game night. They have the life I’ve always wanted. A large family of siblings and a cool mom. I think I’m slowly getting to that life I’ve always imagined I would have. It’s great playing games with the kids, enjoying being together. The kids getting older is really key. They’re like little people. It’s great. Although the early childhood stages are cute, it can be a bit tiring when everything is on you to entertain. Even though the burden is still on you when they’re older, there’s so much more they could do. I’m definitely going to figure out more board games we can all play together. The show is being renewed. It really is a great show.

B got bitten on the back by the neighbor’s dog yesterday. I took a photo of it. I’ll monitor it to see if any infections develop. It doesn’t look like any skin was broken so I’m not too worried about it. Hope that doesn’t turn around and bite me in the butt.

Bought some new clothes for the boys at Target.  I think I need to go elsewhere for clothes though.  They didn’t have much in the way of pants or long sleeves which is really what I needed for them.  I ended up buying a couple more outfits for J though.  I can’t resist.  They’re just too cute.  I do like baby clothes.

It’s at times like this that I wish we still had Showtime. The Tudors really looks like the type of show I’d like. I might just have to find a way…

Didn’t do much today except back up all my photos and then delete the ones I’m never going to print. My hard drive was getting too full. I had to delete. I really want to find a way to back up on a webhost rather than relying on my cds. It makes me really nervous until I at least have a chance to print them out.

Dh and my two older ones went to Camp Oakes today. I got a little worried when I watched the news about the fire near the Hollywood sign. But really, I have no idea where Big Bear is in relationship to the fire so I’m just going to have to trust that everything went well. What’s up with California news anyway? They have a fire and then it’s all over the tv for hours and hours and hours. I don’t think it’s the type of news coverage that is required. They should just ticker that if they really want to keep us apprised. I don’t think preemption of tv programs is necessary. There’s not much going on with fires other than the fact that it’s ongoing, especially brush fires. Ticker this type of news, really. It was totally ridiculous how much time they spent on news of this fire.

On another note, I think one day, we should go to Griffith Observatory and check out the sights around there, including the Hollywood sign.

Every day I fall more and more in love with J. He’s so cute. I kissed his toes today and he laughed each time, or as much as a baby can laugh at this tender age of almost 3 months. He smiled and cooed right after each smile so I concluded it was a baby precursor to a full blown laugh therefore I will name it a laugh.

He’s starting to be a bit drooly these days. It’s either due to all the rasberries he’s blowing or he’s starting to teeth. But he’s not particularly fussy so I’d say he’s not teething yet.

The mystery continues. Is it votefortheworst.com or Howard Stern the one keeping him alive? Now, I just want Sanjaya to keep going just to see his hair. Ponytail Mohawk – that was too funny. I almost died laughing, almost better (but not quite) than the carrot peeps fiasco with DH. I read another interesting take on it – Sanjaya as a bishounen teen idol (in other words, japanese style). I could totally see it. He does have that bishounen look to him – soft spoken, lanky, pretty, appealing to young girls. Rock on Sanjaya!

Loved Gwen Stefani on AI. She’s too cool, she actually gave real constructive criticism. I just really like down to earth people – she was awesome. Didn’t really like the song she sang last night but oh well.  I read this morning that the Idols sang “music that inspired Gwen”. WTH? Donna Summer, the Cure, the Police, Cyndi Lauper and herself? She went down a notch although I must say, it’s stuff from “our generation” so I can’t really knock it. Dh and I couldn’t figure out what the theme was and we concluded that it was just random song choice. Now that I’ve read that they were her favorites, I’m just scratching my head.

Well I finally started working on the design of the website.  I still want to figure out how to do keywords/tag clouds – can’t get them to work.  I might have to lean on my brother again.  I’m still going to try my best to figure it out before I ask him.  I don’t understand why I’m having so many issues.  I’m also having a problem figuring out what’s wrong with the “search” part of the layout.  I never touched search so I don’t know why it looks like that.  I also want to embed Gallery 2 but I haven’t started googling yet how to do that.  One thing at a time.

I tivoed “Top Design“.   Erik got kicked off.  I think it should have been Andrea.  I really don’t think she’s all that good and I was surprised she won the last garage challenge. Her design was just so lame, boring and unimaginative.  She’s like a regular “function” type person doing something every designer probably already knows how to do.  A designer should be someone who can think outside the box.  These challenges should be judged based on that rather than pleasing the client because I’m sure if they really had to sit down with the client in real life and speak at length, they would be able to execute a client’s vision.  These challenges should be more about integrating function, practicality and innovation.  I’m rooting for Goil but I think his lack of world experience may be his downfall.  The previews showed him mentioning that he wasn’t used to all these different kinds of food.  And the beach episode also demonstrated his lack of knowledge – he didn’t even know what a cabana was.  I hope his creativity and innovation save him.  I would be sad to see him lose to the others simply because he doesn’t have familiarity with the “finer” things in life and didn’t have time to research the look that was required.
